Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers ... all the way from Cape Town, South Africa ... we know there are no boundaries in space and time ... and there are no boundaries to healing. May all the love and light you are receiving carry you through this period ... may you blossom with blessing. With love to both of you

I think of you often and always keep a prayer in my thoughts for you. I am honored to be touched by your grace and kindness and I hope that one day I can bring the same compassion, love and hope that you embody to others as well. I am just heading into my 12 month internship at CCNM and will be graduating in less than a year and a half now (wow how time flies). I couldn't be here without your inspiration and guidance. Sending you healing thoughts and prayers

I so appreciate hearing about some of what you are going through Lin. And to see your beautiful face on the journal entry before last. I have a clearer image. we all do,when we are praying and or thinking of you, and being without cancer and pain. It was wonderful to hear about Harrison Hot Springs, and I hope you will do it again, as Derek suggested.I can't help but see how you are both still giving to us all, by doing the journal. It is incredible. Please know how much admiration I hold for both of you. I see so much healing light around your body Lin ,my thoughts and prayers are with you.

You are the flowers on this page,
You are light filled with nature's glorious colours
You radiate this light and love to all our hearts
We return it to you many times multiplied
Time is approached from all directions and you are already healed.

Journal Entry Four - March 15, 2007 by Derek

Hello from Derek.
Lin would have loved to write another journal entry, but right now she needs to conserve her energy. Lin feels it is important to let you know about her journey so please allow me to give you a little update.

A few weeks ago Lin had a visit with Dr. Klimo, a well-known and respected oncologist, for a second opinion. The outcome was a bit of a shock for us, as basically he said there was nothing that chemo or radiation could do to help. Later that day as we gathered our emotions we reviewed our healing path again. As you know Lin has been seeing Dr.Jimmy Chan, a naturopathic and TCM doctor.  www.drjimchan.com

Dr. Chan uses a lot of analogies when he talks about the treatments. When he first told us of the Tortoise and the Hare I really wondered about him. Now it is making a lot of sense, and it also helps me in explaining where we are on this path of healing. When a patient comes to him (usually with cancer) he likens the cancer to the hare. He will assess how fast and how long the hare has been running. The he likens the patient's spirit or life force as the tortoise, and will assess how strong that is.

In Lin's case, unfortunately, the hare has been running for some time, and is very fast. When Lin started treatment, the tortoise was quite weak and slow-moving. In this case he advises the patient to not push the tortoise too much as it will fall over, instead to slowly encourage it as it builds strength. We tried this and unfortunately Lin's energy was low and her body very weak. So although the tumour markers showed an improvement, the tumour continues to grow and with it the pain.  So for now we have decided to let go of Dr. Chan's treatments and we are now looking for a miracle.

Last week we found a mini-miracle at Harrison Hot Springs. We had such a great time there in the outdoor pools; we had a great room overlooking the lake, a four course meal, and buffet breakfasts. This worked so well, as Lin's spirit returned, and she actually gained 7 pounds. Lin talked to Dr. Chan and he said gaining weight was a good sign that the cancer cells weren't taking all of her energy, and that 15% of patients get a spontaneous remission. So hey, why can't we be in that 15%?  Lin is also having therapy sessions and this is really helping with her spirit.  I guess we are really supporting the turtle right now, and one day it will take on the hare.

Thanks to “Lin's Healing Fund”  we have been able to say yes to everything we need to do right now. If Lin’s strength holds out I intend to make a reservation for two more nights at Harrison Hot Springs next week.

We continue to deepen our understanding of letting go, trust in God, we are not in control, faith, living in the moment …
We are deeply grateful for your thoughts and prayers; they do make a difference to us.

Love returns
Lin and Derek
